The Southern Coast of Croatia offers the traveler a variety of places to stay. Three particular places are Split, Dubrovnik, and Cavtat.
Split is a city that has many attractions, shops, and restaurants. It is a central location to stay, that allows for multiple day trips. The quaint Trogir village is a short drive from Split. There are various ferries to the adjacent islands. The island of Brac is about an hour ferry ride from Split, and it is a delight to explore for an afternoon.
The Diocletian Palace is in the heart of the city of Split. It is an awesome site to see as you enter the old section of the city. The marina area is the place to be for a spectacular sunset.
Dubrovnik is a walled city frequented by cruise ships, as well as visitors arriving by air. One can gain an appreciation of the scale of the city by walking the path along the city walls. Another highlight is the gondola ride to view the entire coastline of Dubrovnik.
The lovely village of Cavtat, just south of Dubrovnik, is a not to be missed destination.
The peninsula of Cavtat is situated between two coves. There is a walking path around the peninsula, and it has spectacular views; especially a distant view of it’s neighbor Dubrovnik. There are many restaurants to try, and just relax as time drifts by.
Cavtat is a very serene, and special place to visit.
